Visit castles

Did you know that Germany has the highest number of castles still intact in the world?  Even though these castles do not take upon the common design found in the UK, they are still elaborate in their own design. The country has over 20,000 castles that are still intact and that gives you so much to explore. Some of the famously known castles include Neuschwanstein Castle, which is the inspiration behind Cinderella castle. There is also the Brandenburg Castle, that gets quite a bit of attention from tourists. If you want to be transported back in time, then this would be a great thing to do.

Take a trip down holocaust memorial

One thing that no one can ignore is the effect the Nazis had on German history. The atrocities that were committed back in the day are still talked about to this day. If you love history and would like to learn more about how the events during the holocaust unfolded, then you should go to the Memorial of the Murdered Jews south of the Brandenburg Gate. The memorial is made up of 2,711 unmarked concrete slabs that create a labyrinth that you can get lost in. It is an eerie place to be, but it takes you back in time and gives you a better understanding of the suffering the Jews went through in the hand of the Nazis. There are other similar memorials set up but this one stands out for most people because of the stylistic expression used to explain how things happened.

Visit the Mercedes Benz museum

The Mercedes is one of the most talked about cars in the world. The museum tells a story of how these cars came to be and takes visitors down memory lane. There are over 160 cars in this museum and they are all unique. If you are a Mercedes Benz lover or simply a car enthusiast, then this is a trip you should make when in Germany. It will give you a new sense of appreciation for the cars and how they all work.

Go to the Hall of Mirrors

The hall of mirror is a place rich with history and tells a story of resilience. The dancing venue was established in 1913 and was able to stay intact despite the building being bombed in World War 1. During World War 2, the hall stayed standing despite bullet holes riddling the walls. After the war, it was converted into a dancing hall.  In 2005, the mirror bathroom opened to the public with every little change made to it. It is currently used as a dining area and hosts many events. Since it is hired out for events, ensure you book a guided tour on Sundays to learn more about the place’s rich history.

Listen to music at Kunsthofpassage Singing Drain Pipes

If you love music, then this is a place you need to go to. The drain pipes of Kunsthofpassage were constructed to convert the platter of rainfall into an orchestral performance. It is an ethereal feeling that will have you stopping to listen for a while. One thing to remember is that this passageway cannot be accessed if you are in a car. Use Google maps and go on foot to get the full experience.

Germany is a country that is full of wonder and history. It is a place where any tourist would want to go, learn, and have fun while there.
